Smart City Expo World Congress is back in Barcelona for the 11th edition

From the 15th to 17th November 2022, Barcelona will be hosting the Smart City Expo World Congress 2022, an essential event for innovative businesses that offer products and services for intelligent and sustainable management of tomorrow’s cities.

More than half of the world population lives in cities, a trend that should continue to increase in the coming years.  For smart cities that embrace technologies likely to improve the quality of life of their residents, Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) has become a reference in the field.

A platform for discussions on the evolution of the cities of the future, and with high media coverage, this exhibition highlights various sectors such as energy and the environment, governance, mobility, and so on.

Development through dialogue

With an alarming environmental impact and a persistent health crisis, there is an ever greater need to reflect on how cities can contribute to making the world a better place, to see what works and what doesn’t, and to find new ideas to prepare for change and the climatic, social, and demographic consequences.

The world’s largest trade fair for the sector aims to empower cities and foster harmonious development worldwide. It has become the annual meeting place for business leaders, public authorities, entrepreneurs, experts, and academics from across the world.   Over the course of three days, they will learn from each other, share experiences, discuss best practices, and forge new avenues for collaboration.  The event brings together an international congress, an exhibition, and a host of complementary activities to raise awareness and tackle specific challenges,

SCEWC 2022 will be dedicated to sustainable cities and the people who inspire them.  We want sustainability for people, cities, where public transport coexists with new mobility options; inclusive cities where the streets and public services are available to all; safe cities that address both safety and privacy concerns; collective cities where collaboration and participation become a pivotal part of building a better and more prosperous future,” say the organisers.

Sustainability and inclusiveness

Urban progress is only worthwhile if it is universally accepted.  A smart city is not only forward-looking and sustainable, but also fully inclusive, leaving no one behind.  This is why the Smart City Expo World Congress will focus on how to build a fairer and more equitable society.

The exhibition itself is at the very heart of the event. It is a marketplace where companies and international organisations can interact with professionals from all over the world and showcase their cutting-edge projects and the smart solutions that are possible as a result.

It is also an opportunity to discover a host of events and workshops, including digital sessions, that broaden the event’s programme and address real-life concerns. The perfect way to explore the most pressing issues and shift from words to action!

Smart City Expo World Congress will be held at Fira Barcelona. As was the case in 2021, this year’s edition will be a hybrid experience, with the in-person event in Barcelona once again and a simultaneous digital programme hosted by Tomorrow.City, the digital platform for cities of the future.

Roughly 24,000 virtual and in-person visitors are expected to attend to meet more than 1000 exhibitors and listen to 400 speakers from 140 different countries.
